Tropical mango and strawberry cacao smoothies

Topical mango and lime
  • 1 cup fresh, canned or frozen mango flesh
  • juice of 2 limes (or one lemon)
  • 1 teaspoon citrus zest
  • 300 millilitre coconut milk or cream
  • 1 cup water
  • mint leaves, to garnish
Strawberry and cacao
  • 2 cup frozen strawberries (or use mixed berries)
  • 1 - 2 tbsp cacao nibs (or use 1 tbsp cocoa)
  • 1 - 2 cups iced water
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 3 - 5 large mint leaves, smacked to release flavour


Topical mango and lime

    Blend all ingredients for 1 minute in a high-speed blender. Garnish with the mint leaves.
Strawberry and cacao
  • 2
    Blend all the ingredients for 1-2 minutes in a high- speed blender until smooth. To serve, sprinkle more cacao nibs on top.


  • Makes 2 - 4 glasses. - Introduce creaminess with banana, avocado, coconut cream, yoghurt or almond meal. - Ensure there’s a balance of acidity (lemon, lime, apple cider vinegar, berries) as well as sweetness (fruits, milks, dates, honey). - Get the right consistency by adding iced water or coconut water, not fruit juice - Add good proteins and fats with nuts, coconut oils, avocado and nut butters. - Eat your greens – add spinach, kale, feijoa peel, silverbeet or beet leaves.
