Strawberry kakigori

Kakigori is a Japanese shaved ice dessert that's perfect for when you need to cool down on hot days. Try creating it yourself with this strawberry kakigori recipe

Strawberry syrup
  • 1 punnet strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
To serve
  • shaved ice
  • 4 teaspoon condensed milk, plus more to taste

    To make the strawberry syrup, place the strawberries, sugar and water in a pan. Simmer for 8-10 minutes until you have a rich red syrup. Strain into a glass jug and store in the refrigerator.

    When ready to serve, fill each dish with a mountain of shaved ice. Top with a generous amount of syrup to taste and drizzle with a little condensed milk. Serve immediately.
