Steamed fish with garlic and ginger greens
Tender, flaky fish is steamed to perfection with fragrant Asian herbs and spices. Serve with fragrant steamed greens and a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds for a light, healthy dinner.

Ingredients
Steamed fish with garlic and ginger greens
- 4 180g white fish fillets
- 2 tablespoon light soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 bunch asparagus, ends trimmed
- 1 bunch broccolini, ends trimmed
- 200 gram snow peas, picked
- 1 large red chilli, seeded and sliced
- 1 tablespoon shredded ginger
- 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1/4 cup thai basil leaves
- toasted sesame seeds, to garnish
Method
Steamed fish with garlic and ginger greens
- 1Bring some water to boil in a wide-bottomed pot that can fit a large bamboo steamer on top.
- 2Place fish in a shallow bowl, pour over soy sauce and sesame oil. Place in the steamer basket with the lid on. Steam fish 5 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fillets.
- 3While fish is steaming, heat vegetable oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Add green vegetables. Stir-fry 1 minute. Add chilli, ginger and garlic. Cook further 30 seconds.
- 4Stir in the oyster sauce and water. Stir-fry 1-2 minutes. Add basil leaves.
- 5To serve, divide the stir-fried greens between four serving plates. Top each with a place of fish. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Notes
Cod, barramundi or snapper are great varieties of fish for this recipe.
