Steak with sauteed brussels sprouts

Thick, juicy porterhouse steaks are wonderful cooked to perfection and drizzled with a fragrant spicy creamy sauce. Served with sauteed bacon and brussels sprouts, this makes a winner dish.

Ingredients

Method

1.Heat butter and oil in a large frying pan on medium. Saute bacon and onion 4-5 minutes, until browned. Add brussels sprouts. Saute 2 -3 minutes, until tender. Season to taste. Cover to keep warm.
2.Meanwhile, heat extra oil in a separate pan on high. Cook steaks 3-4 minutes each side, until cooked to taste. Remove from pan and cover with foil to rest and keep warm.
3.Add paprika and garlic to same pan. Saute 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in wine. Bring to boil. Simmer for 3-4 minutes, until reduced by half. Stir in cream. Simmer 3-5 minutes, until sauce thickens. Add juice and season to taste.
4.Serve steaks with sauteed brussels sprouts and sauce.

Use shredded cabbage in place of Brussels sprouts, if preferred. This sauce would also be delicious with chicken breast or pork chops.
