Spicy dumpling miso soup

This deliciously fresh Asian inspired miso dumpling soup is perfect for dinner tonight - packed with bags of flavour and just the right amount of kick!

Spicy dumpling miso soup
  • 1 1/2 cup (375ml) water
  • 1 tablespoon shiro miso paste
  • 1/2 fresh long red chilli, sliced thinly
  • 1/2 teaspoon finely grated fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon light soy sauce
  • 5 frozen pork dumplings
  • 1 baby bok choy (150g), quartered
  • 1/2 green onion, sliced thinly diagonally
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame seeds, toasted

    Place water, miso, chilli, ginger and sauce in a small saucepan over medium heat; bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally, until well combined.

    Add dumplings, cook for 6 minutes or until heated through. Add buk choy, cook for a further 2 minutes. Spoon into a bowl; serve topped with green onion and sesame seeds.


You can use vegetarian or chicken dumplings instead of the pork. Shiro (white) miso is available from supermarkets and will keep for months stored in the fridge. Use it as a seasoning in stir-fries or soups.
