Spaghetti bolognese

A dish that is filled with different flavours of your favourite herbs, you can't go wrong with spaghetti bolognese

Ingredients

Spaghetti bolognese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 stalk celery, finely chopped
  • 1 carrot, finely chopped
  • 50 gram pancetta, finely chopped
  • 2 clove garlic, crushed
  • 500 gram beef mince
  • 2 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 410 gram tomato purée
  • 400 gram diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup red wine
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 chopped parsley leaves
  • cooked spaghetti
  • shaved parmesan
  • crusty bread to serve

Method

Spaghetti Bolognese

    In a large, heavy-based saucepan, heat oil on high. Sauté onion, celery, carrot, pancetta and garlic for 3 minutes until tender.

    Add mince and cook for 4 minutes, breaking up lumps. Stir in tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.

    Mix purée, diced tomatoes, wine, bay leaves and dried oregano through mince mixture. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to medium and simmer for 20 minutes until thickened, then season.

    Stir parsley through, then serve with cooked spaghetti, parmesan and bread.
