Soothing sunshine breakfast bowl
  • 1 cup wholegrain oats, soaked in water for 30 minutes, then drained
  • 1/2 cup Greek yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1/2 banana
  • 2 dates, stones removed
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds, soaked in juice of ½ a tangelo or orange for 10 minutes
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 1/2 banana, sliced
  • 2 tablespoon pumpkin seeds
  • 2 tablespoon sunflower seeds
  • 2 dates, chopped

    Blend all ingredients, except toppings, and spoon smoothie into serving bowls. If you prefer to serve the smoothie cold, cover and chill for 10 minutes. Arrange toppings equally between two bowls and serve with spoons.


Chia should be soaked in liquid before blending. It will form a gel that thickens the smoothie, which makes it a great addition to smoothies where you want a thick texture.
