Method

1.Preheat oven to moderately slow, 160°C. Line 2 baking trays with baking paper.
2.Sift together flour, icing sugar and rice flour into a bowl. Using fingertips, rub in butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Press together to form a firm dough.
3.Turn out onto a floured surface. Knead gently. Roll out between 2 sheets baking paper until 5mm thin. Using a 5cm cutter, cut into stars. Arrange on prepared trays.
4.Bake for 15-20 minutes until lightly golden. Cool for 5 minutes on trays. Transfer to a rack to cool completely. Decorate stars with chocolate buttons. Dust with icing sugar to serve. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
