Sausage pizza pita melts

Ingredients

Sausage pizza pita melts
  • 4 thick lamb sausages
  • 4 individual wholemeal pita breads
  • 300 gram jar tomato salsa
  • 1 cup grated pizza cheese
  • 1 small white onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small lebanese cucumber, finely chopped
  • 225 gram can pineapple pieces in natural juice, drained
  • mixed salad, to serve

Method

    Preheat an oven-grill to high. Grill sausages, turning occasionally, for 6-8 minutes or until browned and cooked. Slice.

    Spread pita with salsa. Top with cheese and sausage. Grill for 2-3 minutes or until golden and cheese has melted.

    Combine onion, cucumber and pineapple in a small bowl. Spoon over warm pizza pita. Serve with salad.

Notes

Use grated cheddar cheese instead of pizza cheese. Use beef, chicken or pork sausages instead of lamb.
