Posh cheese rolls

Nici Wickes would not deign to improve on the original South Island cheese roll, but these wee beauties are a bit more posh and they're just fancy enough to serve them with Champagne at parties!

Ingredients

Method

1.Heat oven to 180°C.
2.Brush one side of each bread slice with butter.
3.Mix together the cheeses, egg, onion relish and walnuts. Spoon evenly over the unbuttered side of each bread slice, leaving one-third free. Roll up, starting from the end with the cheese mixture. Place folded-side down on the tray and flatten gently.
4.Bake until golden and cheese is melted – about 10-12 minutes.
5.Serve either whole or cut with plenty of serviettes!
