Pork siu mai (dim sim) with vinegar soy dressing

Pork siu mai (dim sim)
  • 200 gram pork mince
  • 2 green onions (shallots), finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sunflower
  • kernels
  • 2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 25 round gow gee wrappers
Vinegar soy dressing
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 2 clove garlic, crushed

    Line a bamboo steamer basket with non-stick baking paper.

    Combine all ingredients, except gow gee wrappers, in a bowl. Spoon 2 teaspoons of mixture into centre of each wrapper. Brush edges of wrapper with a little water. Fold wrapper over filling and pleat to seal.

    To make vinegar soy dressing, combine all ingredients in a bowl.

    Arrange dim sim in a single layer in prepared steamer. Place over a wok of gently simmering water and cover tightly with lid. Steam in batches for 5-7 minutes, until cooked through. Serve hot with vinegar soy dressing.


Filling may be prepared ahead of time and frozen, if desired.
