Mocha slice
Bringing together the flavours of coconut, coffee and chocolate, these mocha slices make a great snack, and perfect gift.

Ingredients
Mocha slice
- 125 gram butter, melted
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1/2 cup plain flour
- 1/4 cup self-raising flour
- 2 tablespoon cocoa powder, plus extra, for dusting
- 1 cup desiccated coconut
- cocoa, grated chocolate, to serve
Icing
- 2 teaspoon instant coffee
- 1 teaspoon warm water
- 1 1/2 cup icing sugar mixture, sifted
- 1 teaspoon butter
- 1 tablespoon hot water
Method
Mocha slice
- 1Preheat oven to moderate, 180°C. Lightly grease an 18 x 28cm slice pan. Line base and sides with baking paper, extending paper 2cm above edge of pan.
- 2In a large bowl, combine butter, sugar and egg. Stir in combined sifted flours and cocoa. Fold coconut through. Spread into prepared pan, smoothing top.
- 3Bake for 15-20 minutes, until firm. Cool completely in pan.
- 4To make icing, combine coffee and water, stirring until coffee dissolves. Add icing sugar and butter, and mix well. Stir in enough hot water until icing is a spreadable consistency. Spread over slice.
- 5Cut into squares. Serve dusted with cocoa and grated chocolate.
