Kumara and thyme gratin

Give a French classic a Kiwi twist with this delicious kumara and thyme gratin recipe. Serve as a tasty side dish to your next meal

  • 1 1/2 kilogram kumara, peeled, finely sliced
  • 50 gram butter
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 sprigs of thyme
  • 1 cup cream
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese

    Preheat oven to 180ºC.

    Slice kumara as thinly as you can using a knife or mandolin.

    Grease a baking dish with butter. Layer kumara and onions, seasoning with salt and pepper as you go. Sprinkle over thyme leaves.

    Pour cream over kumara. Sprinkle cheese on top and season.

    Bake for 30 minutes or until kumara is tender.
