Ingredients
Indonesian-style fried rice
- 2 cup (400g) white long-grain rice
- 2 tablespoon peanut oil
- 1 small_piece (100g) red onion, chopped finely
- 1/3 cup (100g) nasi goreng seasoning mix
- 2 cup (500ml) water
- 1 1/2 cup (200g) chinese barbecued pork, coarsely chopped
- 200 gram (6½ ounces) cooked, shelled small prawns (shrimp)
- 4 green onions (scallions), sliced thinly
- 1 large_piece (220g) tomato, seeded, sliced thinly
- 1/4 cup (20g) fried shallots
Method
Indonesian-style fried rice
- 1Wash rice with cold water until water runs clear, drain well.
- 2Combine oil, red onion and seasoning mix in 2.5-litre (10-cup) rice cooker. COOK, stirring, 2 minutes. Add rice and the water, secure lid. COOK about 15 minutes or until cooker automatically switches to KEEP WARM.
- 3Stir in pork, prawns and half the green onion, secure lid. Switch to KEEP WARM; stand 10 minutes. Season to taste. Serve rice topped with remaining green onion, tomato and shallots.
Notes
Nasi goreng seasoning mix is available from Asian grocery stores and the Asian section of large supermarkets.
