Ingredients
Glazed ham steaks with grilled orange salad
- 1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
- 1/4 cup dark rum
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
- 6 ham steaks, 2cm thick
- 4 large oranges, peeled, sliced into rounds
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup shredded mint leaves
- 1 fresh small red chilli, seeded, finely chopped
- 2 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
- mixed salad leaves, to serve
- baked potatoes with butter, to serve
Method
Glazed ham steaks with grilled orange salad
- 1Place orange juice, rum, honey and mustard in a glass or ceramic dish; mix to combine. Place ham steaks in a single layer in dish; turn to coat. Cover with plastic food wrap, then chill for 1 hour to marinate; turn occasionally.
- 2Preheat a large char-grill pan to moderate. Add orange slices; cook for 1-2 minutes each side or until warmed. Transfer to a heatproof plate. Add onion, mint, chilli and vinegar to oranges; turn gently to coat.
- 3Drain marinade from ham; cook on char-grill for 2-3 minutes, each side, or until heated and light grill marks appear. Serve ham steaks with orange salad, mixed leaves and potatoes.
Notes
For extra-thick ham steaks, buy a boneless mini ham, then cut steaks to desired thickness; cooking time will vary.
