Ingredients

Method

1.Preheat oven to moderate, 180°C. Lightly spray a 10 x 20cm loaf pan with cooking oil and line with baking paper.
2.Sift together flour and mixed spice into a large bowl. Stir in sugar, dates and oats.
3.In a jug, whisk together butter, milk and eggs. Lightly mix into flour mixture until well combined.
4.Spoon mixture into prepared pan. Sprinkle with extra oats. Bake for 50-55 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean and dry.
5.Allow to cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and spread with butter to serve.
