Crunchy walnut wafers
Crunchy, buttery and deliciously crispy, Nici Wickes' walnut wafers recipe is the ultimate sweet treat for friends and family to enjoy with a hot cup of tea or coffee

Ingredients
- 125 gram butter
- 125 gram sugar
- 125 gram treacle
- 125 gram flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 75 gram walnuts, chopped
Method
- 1Preheat oven to 175°C. Line 2 baking trays with baking paper.
- 2Cream the butter, sugar and treacle until light and fluffy.
- 3Sift the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture. Combine well. Lastly, add the walnuts and mix.
- 4Put small spoonfuls on the prepared trays, allowing room for spreading.
- 5Bake for 10-15 minutes until firm to touch. Leave on the trays for 1-2 minutes to harden, then place on a wire rack to cool.
Notes
- Store in an airtight tin to preserve their crispness, but if not, they are still delightfully chewy!
