Classic hotdogs
Go all-American with the ultimate in fast and easy food, the humble hotdog topped with onions, tomato sauce and mustard.

Ingredients
Classic hotdogs
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 red onion, finely sliced
- 6 fresh frankfurts
- 6 hot dog rolls, split lengthways
- american mustard, to serve
- tomato sauce, to serve
Method
Classic hotdogs
- 1In a large frying pan, heat oil on medium. Saute onions 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender and lightly caramelised.
- 2Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, cover frankfurts with cold water. Bring to simmer on medium heat, turn heat off and set aside 5 minutes. Drain well.
- 3Fill each roll with a frankfurt and a spoonful of onions. Top with a generous squeeze of mustard and tomato sauce.
Notes
To prevent skins splitting, always start frankfurts off in cold water and keep an eye on the water to ensure it doesn't boil.
