Chocolate, coffee and avocado mousse

Combining the heavenly flavours of chocolate and coffee with the silky smooth texture of avocado, this mousse is a delicious idea for dessert. Whip up a batch for a sweet treat that is ready in just 15 minutes.

  • 450 g avocado flesh (about 3 large avocados)
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste or extract
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup cold strong black coffee
  • chocolate-coated coffee beans

    In a food processor, combine avocado flesh, cocoa, vanilla, maple syrup and coffee. Process until smooth and glossy. You will have to stop and scrape down the sides several times.

    Divide between glasses, garnish with chocolate-coated coffee beans, roughly chopped, and serve.


This dessert can be made a day ahead and kept in the fridge (the coffee flavour develops the longer it is left). As this mousse is quite rich, a little goes a long way!
