Ingredients

Method

1.Preheat oven to 220°C (200°C fan-forced). Lightly grease a baking tray; dust with a little flour.
2.Sift flour into a large bowl. Lightly rub in butter, using fingertips. Stir in half of the cheese.
3.Make a well in centre of flour mixture. Pour in combined milk and water, reserving 1 tablespoon. Using a metal spatula, mix quickly to form a soft, sticky dough. Do not over-mix.
4.Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead lightly. Roll out to form a 5mm thick rectangle (40 x 30cm). Spread with Vegemite. Top with remaining cheese. Roll up.
5.Cut into 3cm slices. Arrange close together on prepared tray. Brush with reserved milk mixture. Bake 10-12 minutes, until scrolls sound hollow when tapped. Serve warm.

Vegemite may be replaced with tomato sauce or 1/2 cup finely chopped cooked bacon.
