Ingredients

Method

1.Preheat oven to moderately slow (160°C/140°C fan-forced).
2.Sift flours, salt and paprika into a medium bowl; rub in butter. Stir in cheese, chilli flakes and enough water to make a soft dough. Knead dough gently on a lightly floured surface until smooth.
3.Roll heaped teaspoons of the dough into balls; place on greased oven trays 3cm apart. Flatten biscuits slightly. Using a 1cm icing tube or similar, make a design on top of the biscuits. Sprinkle biscuits with poppy seeds, if desired.
4.Bake biscuits for about 30 minutes or until browned lightly. Cool on trays.

Suitable to freeze. Not suitable to microwave.
