Caprese salad
The combination of ripe heirloom tomatoes, creamy bocconcini and fresh basil leaves has long been an Italian favourite in this simple Summery salad.

Ingredients
Caprese salad
- 5 truss tomatoes, sliced
- 5 orange tomatoes, sliced
- 340 gram fresh bocconcini, sliced
- 100 gram grape tomatoes, halved
- 100 gram cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1 tablespoon white balsamic dressing or balsamic vinegar
- 1 1/2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoon small basil leaves
Method
Caprese salad
- 1Arrange truss and orange tomato slices with bocconcini around edge of a serving plate. Arrange grape and cherry tomatoes in centre. Season to taste.
- 2Drizzle with vinegar and oil and scatter with basil to serve.
Notes
For this simple salad, high quality ingredients are essential. You need ripe, tasty tomatoes and a good quality extra virgin olive oil. We chose a selection of different coloured and sized tomatoes, but you can vary this depending on what's available.
