Method

1.Process onion, garlic, chilli and ginger in a food processor until smooth. Transfer to a bowl. Add ketjap manis, stir to combine. Add beef, toss to coat. Cover with plastic food wrap. Chill for 30 minutes to marinate.
2.Preheat a char-grill pan over moderately high heat. Add beef. Cook, in batches, 3 minutes each side, or until browned and cooked. Transfer to a heatproof plate. Cool.
3.Place wraps on a board. Top with cabbage, carrot and beef. Drizzle with satay sauce. Roll up tightly. Serve with extra satay sauce.

Ketjap manis is an Indonesian sweet soy sauce. It’s in the Asian foods aisle of your supermarket. If unavailable, combine 1/4 cup salt-reduced soy sauce with 1 tablespoon brown sugar. Budget beef rump, also known as ‘smart buy rump’, is a cheap alternative to rump steak. Make ahead: You can marinate beef a day ahead. Cover, then refrigerate.
