1.Preheat oven to 180°C/160°C fan forced. Grease and line a 21x10cm (base measurement) loaf pan with baking paper, extending paper at long sides for handles.
2.Using an electric mixer, beat butter and caster sugar in a medium bowl until light and creamy. Add eggs, one by one, beating well after each addition. Add mashed banana; mix well to combine. Sift flour, bicarbonate of soda and spices over banana mixture; fold in until just combined. Spoon into prepared pan; level top.
3.Place sliced banana, walnuts and brown sugar in a small bowl; gently toss to coat. Scatter evenly over top of batter in pan. Bake for 55 minutes or until a skewer inserted at centre comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes in pan, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely. Thickly slice. Serve with strawberries and yogurt.
You will need about 5 medium over-ripe bananas to make a cup of mashed banana.
