Baked bean bolognese

Ingredients

Method

1.Heat oil in a frying pan over high heat. Add onion; cook and stir for 3 minutes or until soft. Add bacon and mince; cook, stirring to break up lumps, for 5 minutes or until browned.
2.Add pasta sauce and 1/2 cup water to mince mixture. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 25 minutes or until sauce reduces. Add baked beans; cook and stir until heated. Remove pan from heat. Stir in basil.
3.Meanwhile, cook pasta in a saucepan of boiling salted water for 8 minutes or until tender. Drain.
4.Divide pasta among serving bowls. Top with bolognaise. Serve sprinkled with cheese and extra basil.

DIY idea: Serve bolognese with any type of pasta or use in lasagne. Layer bolognese between fresh lasagne sheets, top with grated cheddar cheese, then bake until golden and bubbling.
