Make your own fabric muffin cases

Not only do they look fantastic, these cases are also a great sustainable way to present your baking, as you can use fabric off-cuts and reuse them time and time again.

You will need:

  • Your choice of muffin ingredients

  • Baking paper

  • Small, round paper doilies

  • Assorted fabrics

  • Pinking shears

  • Pearl-headed pins

  • Ribbons

  • Gift tags, optional

Step 1: Prepare muffin mixture using your recipe (scroll down to see our favourites!). Lightly grease a muffin tin, but instead of using paper muffin cases, cut baking paper into 15cm squares. Use pinking shears to create a zig-zag edging. Push paper squares into the muffin holes and drop some muffin mixture into the cases. Bake muffins as per the recipe.

Step 2: Cut the fabric into 16cm squares. Again, use pinking shears for a zig-zag edge.

Step 3: Place a paper doily in the centre of the fabric square (this will stop moisture marking the fabric). Position the muffins on the doily, fold up the points of the fabric, then secure with pins.

Step 4: Tie the ribbon around the fabric-wrapped muffin and make a bow to secure. Remove the pins. If it’s a gift, add a tag with a greeting.
