Char-grilled asparagus with bruschetta topping

ingredients
- 2 bunch asparagus, trimmed
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 4 thick slices sourdough bread
- 3 tomatoes, seeded, finely chopped
- 1 small red onion, finely sliced
- 1/2 cup basil leaves
- mixed salad leaves to serve

In a bowl, toss asparagus, half the oil and garlic to coat. Season.

Preheat barbecue plate on high. Cook asparagus, turning for 4-5 minutes until tender and grill marks appear.

Preheat barbecue grill on high. Drizzle bread with remaining oil. Grill for 2-3 minutes each side until toasted. Tear into small chunks.

In a small bowl, combine tomato, onion and basil leaves. Season to taste. Serve asparagus topped with tomato mixture, breadcrumb chunks and salad leaves.
