Once again, Taste has called on the legendary Bob Campbell to judge the best of the best New Zealand has to offer.

Bob’s got the hard job – with more than 3000 wines to taste per year, it’s fair to say he’s a reliable source of information on all things vino. He’s been hard at work for Taste to find you the very best of the best Kiwi wines, and he says this year’s winners are simply stunning. While domestic consumption of wine is dropping – 10 years ago we drank 21.5 litres per head annually, now it’s 19.2 – it’s more a case of quality over quantity, with more of us educating ourselves on what makes a really excellent glass of wine. This year, Bob reckons the biggest area of growth will be in low-alcohol wines, and he expects light, bright reds to remain firmly on trend. But always remember, price is never a good guide when it comes to choosing the drop for you – instead, heed Bob’s recommendations to find that magic bottle!
