Warm Apple Cake with Pecans

This lovely cake will fill your house with the comforting scent of apple, cinnamon and pecan. Perfect for the cooler months of the year.


Warm apple cake with pecans

  • 125 g unsalted butter, melted, cooled
  • 1 egg
  • 2 golden delicious apples, peeled, cut into 1cm cubes
  • 1 cup (220g) caster sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups (225g) plain flour
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda (baking soda)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup (115g) chopped pecans
  • cream, to serve


Warm apple cake with pecans

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease and line base of a 20cm springform pan.
  2. Whisk butter and egg until smooth. Add apple and sugar. Sift dry ingredients and a pinch of salt over apple mixture. Add nuts, mix well.
  3. Fill prepared pan and bake for 45-55 minutes, until a skewer inserted comes out clean. Serve warm or at room temperature with cream.
