  • 395 grams fettuccine
  • 60 g butter
  • 300 ml light cream
  • 1 1/2 cups parmesan, grated
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • fresh basil, torn (optional)
  • crusty bread, to serve

Steps

Pasta alfredo

  1. In a large saucepan of boiling salted water, cook pasta following packet instructions. Drain well.
  2. Meanwhile, melt butter in a large frying pan over high heat. Add cream and 1 1/4 cups parmesan. Bring to a simmer.
  3. Add the pasta to pan along with nutmeg. Season to taste. Toss to coat well.
  4. Serve with extra parmesan and a few torn basil leaves (optioned). Accompany with crusty bread.
