Classic acai bowl

Megan May's version of the popular Brazilian breakfast bowl. It's a bowl of antioxidant-rich acai blended with berries and banana into a healthy ‘sorbet’. Photography by Melanie Jenkins.

Ingredients

Classic acai bowl

  • 5 tbsp acai pulp (you can find frozen pulp at health food stores) or 1½ tbsp acai powder
  • 1 fresh ripe banana
  • 1/2 cup cup frozen strawberries
  • 1/3 cup frozen blueberries

Topping

  • fresh fruit
  • ‘grawnola’ (raw granola)

Steps

Classic acai bowl

  1. Blend everything in a blender until very smooth (add a little almond milk or water to get it smooth if your blender is having difficulty with the frozen berries). You’re aiming for a smooth, sorbet-like texture.
  2. Pour into a bowl and top with your choice of fresh fruit and grawnola.
